SOM stands for System-On-Module also known as "Computer-On-Module". BCM's SOMs are component-like system boards with complete PC functionality that plug into application-specific baseboards through high-density, low profile, surface-mount connectors. The surface-mount connectors carry both ISA and PCI bus signals as well as dedicated I/O interfaces. SOMs are also scaleable and interchangeable, and deliver rapid development of semi-custom solutions for embedded applications.
